اغلب تومورهای کبدی غیر قابل جراحی بوده و نیازمند استفاده از سایر روشها برای درمان می باشد . یکی دیگر از روشهای درمانی غیر جراحی برای از بین بردن این تومورها تکنیک مایکروویو می باشد . علاوه بر این از مایکروویو بعنوان درمان مکمل در جراحی توده های کبدی و شیمی درمانی عمومی و رادیوتراپی

مایکروویو

تکنیک سوزاندن بافت توموربا استفاده از امواج مایکروویو در بدن می باشد در حقیقت مشابه با مایکروویو های خانگی که به منظور گرم و طبخ غذا استفاده می شود و همان انرژی را بوسیله آنتن های مخصوصی که در ضایعه قرار میگیرد به تومور منتقل می کند .

نحوه انجام عمل مایکروویو

در این روش آنتن های مخصوص (سوزنهای مایکروویو) با هدایت سی تی اسکن وارد تومور شده و با اتصال به دستگاه مولد مایکروویو و ایجاد حرارت سلولهای زنده در محل سوزانده می شود .
